Closing the Bones … Rebozo Massage
Rebozo massage is perfect for all kinds of ‘women’s issues’, anyone with stiffness in the lower back, hips, shoulder and neck can benefit from Rebozo and it is a truly blissful experience for anyone who wants to relax.
The essence of the rebozo massage is to
release any tension whilst also helping to
relieve anxiety, supporting those that feel overwhelmed or over stimulated, anyone suffering from shock or trauma, menstruation problems, fertility or those mamas who are healing during their postnatal period. It’s something for everyone.
The Rebozo is used to release tension from shoulder and hip joints – the Rebozo is wrapped around the body part and used like a hammock to rock and stretch out your tired limbs. It feels safe and it is wonderful to let go into the movement and release tension whilst connecting to the breath.
Anyone who is suffering with an aching lower back – will benefit from the rebozo being wrapped around your lower back where they can be gently rocked and shimmied while being supported to release any areas of tenderness or tension. This can be while you lie on a massage pad or on all fours or standing, according to your personal preference.
To gently ease any tension from your neck the rebozo can be placed under your head and used to gently rotate your head and stretch your neck. We can support your pelvic floor using the rebozo techniques.
Closing of the Bones is a postpartum healing ceremony, created by a Mexican tradition where the postpartum mother was and is anointed, massaged and wrapped. It helps to nurture the mother after her birth journey into motherhood. It is a celebration, a setting of sacred space, and a way to nurture mama & baby.
As women go through Childbirth, it is quite an ‘open’ experience. Everything during labour is about opening, opening physically, emotionally, spiritually but once the baby is born, the body requires sealing or closing that which has been opened and is raw and vulnerable. Birth is an amazing experience but afterwards that openness can leave us empty.
The “closing” space would be filled with petals, candles and soft music playing. The woman would then have a warm essential oil back rub to ease the pressure and to relax her. Using the rebozo to ease any tension and then the woman would be laid down on scarves, surrounded by warm homemade lavender and flaxseed pouches and rose petals.
There will be a ‘closing’ done by gently wrapping key areas of the body to help facilitate shrinkage of the uterus, guide the bones back to their original position. Once closed the mother is able to lie quietly and enjoy “her” experience.
Beautiful sayings would be read as she is gently closed and tucked in. The process helps to “close” a Mother’s body, which “opens” in so many ways, both in preparation for, and during birth itself
The ritual can also help “close” a new Mother energetically, as both pregnancy, and particularly the intense process of labor and birth, can be very vulnerable times for a woman, psychologically and physically.
The Closing of the Bones is for mothers from 6 weeks postpartum ideally and beyond. However, it is open to all mothers/women at any time that wish to find some closure for themselves.
We are honouring new mothers, we are honouring all women, we honour your journey, we hold your space …. be held, honoured, warmed and loved. Come and experience your sealing ceremony. It will help you to feel safe, quieten your mind and allow you to re-gather your energy.
Closing the bones is great for any situation that has been an overwhelming experience. It will help you to feel safe, quieten your mind and allow you to re-gather your energy. You will be able to rest in this peaceful state for a while before being quietly unwrapped. The firm hold of the cloth allows you let go and go deep inside.
